Importance of Women's Education in India

Women education is an issue related to the status of women in a society. Today, in almost every country, there has been a certain endeavour and awareness of women 's education, for it has been recognized globally that the tyranny and maltreatment of women in the history of man has offended mankind. Looking to this position, the word "abala" was used for the woman. Some countries, like China, have for a thousand years believed that women have no souls. In India also, women have not had any opportunity to live as men, but a great deal of attention is being paid to women in the present times.

Importance of Girl's Education in India

The Suggestions of the University Education Commission on education of women are as follows:

(i) Be guided by competent women and men to make women interested in education.

(ii) Renew the curriculum to give women the right place in the society.

(iii) Give home science education

(iv) Provide facility to girls in boys colleges

(v) Let the facilities be spread.

(vi) Female Teachers should be given equal pay to men for equal work.

The Suggestions of the commission for secondary education on women are as follows:

(i) Girls aged 11 to 17 years must be given secondary education.

(ii) Teach three languages at the former low secondary level.

(iii) Home science education should be provided at the secondary level.

Importance of Female Education in India

Following are the Suggestions regarding female education of the national committee (1958) :

(i) Women education should be given priority as a national problem.

(ii) Promotion of women 's education programmes must be promoted.

(iii) Education seminars to be organised for development of women 's education.

(iv) To bring equality in the education of boys and girls.

 (v) Provide for part - time education for married women.

(vi) Hostel, library and laboratory should be provided.

(vii) Technical institutions of women 's education should be established.

We thus see that various commissions and educational committees have made various recommendations acknowledging the importance of women 's education in order to improve women' s education and address the problems of gender discrimination. Through female education, feminine qualities should be cultivated and woman should be made capable mother and efficient housewife. Women 's education is to develop their character - building and develop the qualities of leadership. They have to nurture and preserve culture and develop a spirit of loyalty to democracy.

Women 's education can be made more effective and women can be empowered and women empowered. They can be made financially self - supporting, and it is necessary to link women 's education with employment - oriented education. By making economically self - reliant, women can be ensured their contribution to national progress and creating a protective environment for women both at home and outside. This can also ensure the health and dignity of women. This requires practically breaking the net of male predominance and superiority, only if women are given opportunities for self - expression and self - publication. Put the strength of women to good use in every field. Abolition of social evils and superstitions.

Female education is an essential and important condition for the preparation of right - to - day children. This calls for the spread of awareness and education among women. Women 's participation should be increased. Empower women with learning to suit their personal tastes and strengths. Prevention of wastage and retention and capitalization be undertaken.

Welfare schemes are, therefore, being implemented to make women healthy, educated and strong. In the words of Kiran bedi, "a healthy and educated woman holds wealth to the nation.

She contributes to the well - being of the society as an illiterate, poor and unwell woman raises the burden of society by giving birth to weak, malnourished children and so the issues relating not only to women but to the society and the nation as a whole. "Hansa Mehta Committee (1962) thinks that" women will have the real and effectively equal opportunities to men if they want to build a new society on a sound basis."

That is why Indian and western educationists have given more education to women than men because women act as educated and educate the whole society. The views of the university commission on the subject are as follows :

"People cannot be educated without women 's education. If it is only a question of confining education to men or women, let it be given to women, because only they can educate the future child."

Women 's education must, therefore, be made accessible and necessary to the common people. Let them not be imprisoned in the four walls of the house, but with them are innumerable possibilities through which we can make our future generation even more productive and strong.
